02/28/2014. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Introduced in February 1970, the PA-39 was the PA-30 fitted with contra-rotating 160 hp Lycoming IO-320-B1A engines and modified wing leading edges. Production of the PA-30 ended in 1971 (a total of 1,998 were produced), being replaced by the PA-39, however only 144 PA-39s were produced, including the turbocharged version, before production halted in 1972.
The pictured aircraft was produced in 1970 and registered N8904Y. Subsequently it had three registrations in South Africa, ZS-IKG, ZS-MRH, and ZS-NLF. Holder of the latter registration was Jowells Transport of Springbok, the owner operated Namaqualand Airservice.
On August 15, 2000, the aircraft appeared on the UK register as G-BZLW, registered to Interflight (Air Charte) Ltd. at Biggin Hill, Greater London, only five months later, January 26, 2001 it was deregistered. Eighteen months later, September 22, 2002, its present US registration was issued, N41FT, however, the registration holder is again British, Southern Aircraft Consultancy Inc. at Ditchingham, Norfolk."
