09/30/2015. Remarks by
Walter van Tilborg: "The ST-80 Ballade was an original design homebuilt aircraft designed by Frenchmen René Stern and Marcel Staudt. The ST-80 featured upwards folding wings and the prototype was built by the designers with a 60 hp Limbach SL1700 engine. Under the temporarily registration F-WYQA the aircraft first flew on July 17, 1983 and after it received a
CofA it was registered F-PYQA on November 16, 1983. The type was subsequently marketed for amateur construction by René Stern and a second example was built in the UK by Patrick Earle Barker in 1998, it was registered as
G-BWVI (c/n PFA 166-11190) on August 7, 1998; both aircraft are still registered. Possibly a third aircraft was built in France as well."
