Lorraine KV-5A

01/15/2019. Remarks by Walter van Tilborg: "The KV-5A two-seat motor glider was a further development of the KV-3 single-seater and like the latter was based on a Scheibe SF-28 Tandem Falke fuselage, but now mated to Morelli M-200 Föhn glider wings. Starting in 1986, the type was developed by Roger Kieger, owner of Lorraine Aviation (trading as lorAvia). Fitted with a 52 hp Rotax 503 engine, the first aircraft performed test hops towards the end of 1990, but the first flight was not made till June 21, 1991.

Production KV-5s were planned with wings taken from existing M-200 gliders, but due to shortage of such wings the design was modified to accept wings from other gliders such as the Grob Twin Astir I, II or III, Schweitzer Ask-21, Scheibe SF-34 and Glaser-Dirks DG-500. However, no additional KV-5s were built."
