12/31/2009. Remarks by Walter van Tilborg: "The PJ-1 Toucan single-seat homebuilt sport aircraft was designed by José Pocino. The Toucan was initially planned to be powered by a modified Citroën car engine, but when first flown it had a Hirth two-stroke engine driving a pusher propeller. The aircraft was found to be somewhat overweight and was soon abandoned.
It was followed by very similar, but lighter, second airframe (pictured) , with a longer-stroke landing gear, increased fuel capacity and a 60 hp Rotax 582 engine. This aircraft first flew around 1997-1998. The PJ-1A Toucan had removable wings for transport and easy storing."
