Lt. Wilkes, flying a 331st FIS F-86D over Hudson River and New York City, 1955. He was involved in a mid-air collision while posted at Suffolk County AFB. The collision occured at 10,000 ft. A five foot section of the left wing of his aircraft was torn away. Both aircraft landed safely. |
