Built at the Vega factory as model V-146, ex US Navy BuNo. 34701, after RCAF service to civil register as N593EW.

05/16/2003. Remarks by Tony Javis: "This is a Lockheed Ventura GR.V, RCAF s/n 2236 'W' being pushed from No. 6 Hangar at Edmonton, Alberta. I have the photo being credited to Bill Cottrell (who now incidentally volunteers at this very same hangar for the Alberta Aviation Museum). The aircrafts s/n is 5591 and it was sold post war to have a long career as a converted civilian transport. It was first converted to a Super Ventura, thence a Howard 350 then a Super Howard 350. In the 1970s it was seized by the US Customs service for drug smuggling and as of the 1980s was supposed to be still in existence although no sighting of it, derelict or otherwise as since been made!
On another note, No. 6 Hangar is now known as 'The Hangar on Kingsway' where the Edmonton Aviation Heritage Society is now lodged. It is the hangar that we have our Lockheed Ventura, RCAF s/n 2195, being restored within by the Ventura Memorial Flight Association."
