09/30/2013. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk"This Pingouin (Penguin) came on the French civil registry as F-BGVD in 1951. Thirteen years later, December 23, 1964, it was deregistered as it was sold to Belgium where it was registered OO-GVD. On September 25, 1973, it was deregistered as the Pingouin was shipped to the USA, where it was registered as N108R.

However, it was immediately resold to Canada, where it was registered to Edward High of Fort Langley, British Columbia as C-GRIT. It was also named Grit, after Edward's wife Grite. It was painted in a WW II Luftwaffe scheme, the 28 victory marks on the rudder referring to Franz Stigler, a famous Luftwaffe ace with 28 confirmed victories, who taught Edward High to fly the Pingouin. After High passed away, Stigler became owner of C-GRIT on November 17, 1983.

The aircraft was sold to Australia where it was registered VH-HUN on November 16, 1999, the following year it was damaged in a landing accident and subsequently stored. After it changed hands and was reregistered VH-OFS in 2006, a long term restoration was started, which reportedly is still going on as of this date."
