The following text from Aviation Week is not unique to the aircraft
pictured:
09/12/1960. Grumman Mohawk observation plane for the US Army has been
fitted with SLAR gear (side-looking airborne radar) carried in a
pod slung below the belly. System provides the Army with radar
photographic maps on 4 in x 5 in (10.2 x 12.7 mm) cut film or on
2.75 in (70 mm) strip film; inflight processor enables an observer
to see developed film shortly after exposure. In addition to SLAR,
all production Mohawks will be equipped with a high resolution
optical photographic system as basic equipment.
