This aircraft was produced by Consolidated Vultee under the trade name Convair as Model 340-63 (N7600) and delivered to Union Oil of California, USA, in 1954. Later it was converted to Model 440 and registered as N100A. Registrations were changed again to N200A and N2006, in the meantime it was converted to Model 580. Reregistered to N73158 it was operated by Lake Central Airlines from August 1967 until August 1968. Allegheny Airlines owned the aircraft as N5838 from August 1968 until January 1977. Thereafter it went to Canada and was operated by Air Ontario registered as C-GQHA. In 1988 it was registered in Belgium as OO-DHF with European Air Transport and has been wearing the DHL Worldwide Courier and Kuwait Express liveries. In February 2000 it was registered in Spain as EC-HJU and was leased to Swiftair wearing the DHL liverey again. In June 2005 it became ZS-SKH of Skyhaul, South Africa. It crashed April 26, 2006, while on approach to Amisi Airport, Congo, killing all eight occupants on board. |
