Remarks by Jack McKillop: "Delivered to the USAAF on May 31, 1943 as a Lockheed 18-56-23 Lodestar C-60A-5-LO s/n 41-55999, this aircraft was registered NC45372 and sold in September 1945; it was immediatley leased to Skyways International Transport & Trading Corp. of Miami, Florida, USA and used on non-scheduled cargo flights from Miami to the Caribbean and Central and South America. It was converted to a passenger aircraft in 1947 and continued flying the same routes. On January 1, 1949, the CAA dropped the 'C' from the registration number and it became N45372. It passed through several owners and was reregistered N92T on July 15, 1957 and was converted to a Learstar II in late 1957 by Pacific Aero Engineering Corporation. It passed through several owners until being reregistered N116CA on July 28, 1978. On August 21, 1983, it was on a parachuting flight when it stalled and crashed near Silvana, Washington killing the 11 people aboard the aircraft." |
