Messerschmitt Me 262 A-1a

08/31/2007. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "This was the first intact example of the Me 262 to fall into allied hands when the defecting German test pilot Hans Fay landed at Frankfürt/Rhein-Main, Germany at 13.45 hrs. on March 30, 1945. It was shipped to Wright Field, Ohio, USA and took part in trials with a Lockheed P-80. After a total of 10 hr and 40 flying time it crashed after suffering an engine failure near Xenia, Ohio on August 20, 1946. The pilot Major Walter J. McAuley bailed-out, escaping uninjured."
