Douglas DB-7B Boston Mk.III

03/31/2006. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "This aircraft was one of 480 DB-7Bs ordered by the French AF on May 18, 1940. Before construction started France was occupied by Germany and the order was transferred to Britain. The first batch of 240 aircraft was built by Douglas as DB-7B Boston Mk.III, s/ns AL263 to AL 502. The second batch of 240 aircraft was built by Boeing as DB-7B Boston Mk.IIIA, s/ns AL668 to AL907. However, only a small number reached the RAF as 356 aircraft (including AL381) were retained by the USAAF. Eventually 22 went to the RAAF and at least 68 were shipped to Russia."

From Aviation Archeology web site: On February 4, 1943, this aircraft crashed (belly landing) at Bury St. Edmunds, UK, while assigned to 450th Bomb Squadron, 322nd Bomb Group, 8th Air Force.
