Lockheed B14L Hudson Mk.I

06/30/2024. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Specialized in night shipping reconnaissance, RAF Coastal Command No. 224 Squadron, based at RAF Thornaby, North Yorkshire, England, became the first squadron to re-equip to Hudson Mk.Is in May 1939. The squadron transferred to RAF Leuchars on the east coast of the peninsula Fife, Scotland in September 1939.

The pictured "QX-G" had a brief stay at RAF Leuchars as it was lost only September 7, 1939. The aircraft disappeared over the North Sea, some 13 mls (21 km) east of RAF Leuchars, despite a prolonged search, no trace of the aircraft or the four crew was ever found."
