Curtiss CW-23

08/31/2010. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "The St. Louis Airplane Division developed the sole two-seat CW-23 from the CW-19R. Fitted with a 600 hp Pratt & Whitney R-1340 Wasp engine, hydraulically-actuated flaps, and inward retracting landing gear, it was first flown in April 1939. Advertised with a maximum speed of 325 mph (523 kmh), it was demonstrated to representatives of the USAAC, USN and Canada, for use as a basic or advanced trainer, but lack of interest led to its rejection for production."
