08/31/2010. Remarks by
Johan Visschedijk: "Originally ordered as an XPTBH-1 twin-float patrol and torpedo-bomber aircraft, the Hall Aluminum Aircraft Corporation of Buffalo, New York, USA, delivered the prototype to the USN as an XPTBH-2. Powered by two 800 hp Pratt & Whitney XR-1830-60 Wasp air-cooled radials, it carried a crew of four, a torpedo or bomb load of 1,000 lb (455 kg), a 0.3 in (7.62 mm) machine gun each in the nose turret and the dorsal position, and a 0.5 in (12.7 mm) machine gun in the ventral position. It was delivered to the USN on January 30, 1937, but after a year of trials it was destroyed in a storm."
