04/30/2008. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "In 1971 the British Parliament stipulated the merger of British European Airways (BEA) and British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) into the government owned British Airways (BA). The British Airways Board was formed on September 1, 1972, to control the merger, that took place on April 1, 1974.
At that date all aircraft previously registered to BEA and BOAC were reregistered to BA (or its subsidiary British Airtours), including 28 Boeing 707s from BOAC. The interim livery with BOAC colours and logo, and British Airways titles to the fuselage as seen in the photograph, was induced by the large number of aircraft awaiting a new BA livery.
G-ARRC was first flown on March 4, 1963 and delivered to BOAC eleven days later, it was immediately leased to BOAC-Cunard. Returned to BOAC on October 11, 1966, it was registered to BA on January 1, 1974. Leased to Air Mauritius in November 1976, and to British Airtours in May 1977, the aircraft was registered to Europe Aero Serv on March 2, 1981.
It was sold to the USA in August 1983, registered to Coastal Airways as N4465C. In March 1990 it went to Zaire, registered to Air Charter Services, Zairian Airlines and finally New Air Charter Services. The aircraft was broken up at Kinshasa in April 1995."
