Martin 170B JRM-2 Mars

03/31/2008. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Twenty JRMs (BuNos. 76819 to 76838) were ordered by the USN, only the first six were completed, five as JRM-1s, while the sixth was finished as a JRM-2. It was delivered to VR-2 Air Transport Squadron of the Naval Air Transport Service at NAS Alameda, California, on May 10, 1948. Withdrawn from use in 1956, it was stored at NAS Alameda till it was sold to Mars Metals Co. in 1959, and on the 27th August of that year it was registered in Canada to Forest Industries Flying Tankers as CF-LYM. Two years later it was converted to an tanker, being damaged beyond repair by typhoon Frieda on October 12, 1962, while parked on shore at Victoria International Airport, Sidney, British Columbia."
