Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "The tandem-winged Miles M.39 was designed to Specification B.I 1/41 for a lightly-armed, high-altitude high-speed bomber, as proof of concept the five-eighths scale M.39B was built. Powered by two 140 hp DH Gipsy Major 1C engines, and registered in the 'Class B' as U-0244, it was first flown on July 22, 1943.
In January 1944 it was delivered to RAE Farnborough, serialed as SR392, on return to Miles in February 1945 it received the 'Class B' marking U-4."
