Curtiss CW-20B R5C-1 Commando

09/30/2008. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Produced under the USAAF s/n 42-3626, the aircraft was delivered on January 28, 1944 and immediately transferred to the USN as a R5C-1, BuNo. 39541. Struck off charge it came on the civil registry as N9514C, registered to C-46 Parts Inc.

In February 1964 the aircraft was sold to Servicios Aereos Especiales SA (SAESA) of Mexico, registered as XA-PEX, while on March 10, 1972 it appeared on the FAA Registry as N11807, registered to Westernair of Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA.

However, the USA registration was apparently never taken up, being revoked on January 14, 1977. The aircraft was seen derelict without engines, still wearing SAESA livery and the Mexican registration, at Mexico City on June 27, 1978, and has most likely been scrapped."
