Lockheed 8 Sirius

11/30/2016. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Purchased as a quasi-military aircraft with the proceeds from public, state and military donations, this Mexican-registered Sirius 8, X-BADA, was a Wasp-powered machine with tandem open cockpits.

Lockheed 8 Sirius
Colonel Roberto Fierro

First test flown by Colonel Roberto Fierro (later General Fierro) of the Fuerza Aérea Mexicana and named Anahuac, it was used by Colonel Fierro and Captain Arnaulfo Cortes on 23 June, 1930, to make the first nonstop flight between New York and Mexico City, 2,152 miles (3,463 km) in 16.5 hours. Five years later it was shipped from Mexico to Spain where it was modified as a fighter-bomber by the Republicans. It was apparently shot down by anti-aircraft fire during 1937."
