Lockheed 8 Sirius

11/30/2016. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Purchased as a quasi-military aircraft with the proceeds from public, state and military donations, this Mexican-registered Sirius 8, X-BADA, was a Wasp-powered machine with tandem open cockpits.

Lockheed 8 Sirius
Colonel Roberto Fierro

First test flown by Colonel Roberto Fierro (later General Fierro) of the Fuerza AĆ©rea Mexicana and named Anahuac, it was used by Colonel Fierro and Captain Arnaulfo Cortes on 23 June, 1930, to make the first non-stop flight between New York and Mexico City, 2,152 miles (3,463 km) in 16.5 hours. Five years later it was shipped from Mexico to Spain where it was modified as a fighter-bomber by the Republicans. It was apparently shot down by anti-aircraft fire during 1937."
