12/31/2011. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Ordered by the Air Ministry in 1941, this aircraft was built by Armstrong Whitworth at Whitley, Coventry ,UK, to Contract No. 239/SAS/C4(C). It was delivered to No. 426 Squadron in July, 1943, but was transferred to No. 115 Squadron in August 12, 1943, coded KO-N. After a total of 27 flying hours, DS722 was lost when it ditched into the North Sea at 1.15am August 24, 1943. Just over four hours earlier it had left RAF Little Snoring in Norfolk at 9.07pm for a raid to Berlin. A dinghy with three survivors was located by German forces after six days, one crew member's body washed ashore on the Dutch coast on November 12, the remaining three crew members were never recovered."
