Johan Visschedijk: "With a span of 16 ft 3 in (4.95 m) and a length of 14 ft 3 in (4.34 m) this Single Seater Biplane was the smallest product of the Sopwith company. Powered by a 50 hp Gnome 7 Omega seven-cylinder air-cooled rotary engine (the world's first aviation rotary engine produced in quantity), the one-off Sopwith Bee was built from Sopwith Pup components. By its features it had an intriguing relationship with several other Sopwith types, like the Dolphin, Bulldog, Snail, Buffalo, Snipe, Salamander and Dragon."
