Johan Visschedijk: "In 1974 Piper produced the PA-41P, a pressurized cabin version of the
PA-23-250 Aztec. It featured a new fuselage with smaller and rounded rear windows, and it was powered by two 270 hp Lycoming L/TIO-540-L1AD engines driving contra-rotating propellers. Registered N9941P the sole prototype first flew on February 21, 1974, however, it soon became clear that, compared to the PA-23-250, the heavier pressurized fuselage negatively influenced the load capacity and subsequently the project was cancelled the same year. The PA-41P was donated to the Mississippi State University (MSU), which had it registered on January 2, 1975. It was used as a flying test bed in many experiments, including engine cooling and propeller behavior. In 2000 the aircraft was donated to the Piper Aviation Museum in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, where it is
on display."
