10/31/2007. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Jean Grinvalds of Pont-Sainte-Marie, Champagne-Ardenne, France, started the design of the G 801 on January 1, 1975, while construction of the homebuilt four-seat all-glass fiber pusher began in July 1976. Powered by an 160 hp Avco Lycoming O-360 flat-four-cylinder engine mounted behind the cockpit, and registered as F-PYKF, it was first flown on June 2, 1981.
Over 50 sets of plans had been sold before the type was developed into the Orion G 802, of which the prototype was displayed at the Paris Air Show, May 26-June 5, 1983, and was first flown on November 4, 1983, registered F-WZLK (c/n 01)."
