Johan Visschedijk: "Sherman Mills Fairchild founded Fairchild Aerial Camera Corp. in February 1920 and bought this surplus WW I Fokker. Till then, cameras were hand-held over the aircraft side when photos were taken and the success of taking a correct photo was influenced by wind, rain, etc. Fairchild simply cut a hole in the floor of the C.II to enable the photographer to aim a bit more carefully."
