01/31/2008. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "This strategic reconnaissance aircraft, USAF s/n 61-7980, was first flown on September 25, 1967, with Blackbird Chief Project Pilot Robert "Bob" J. Gilliland at the controls and Lockheed test pilot Steven "Steve" A. Belgeau as Reconnaissance Systems Officer. On loan from the Air Force it made its first NASA flight on February 15, 1990, and coded NASA "844" it was transferred to NASA in July 1999.
The last SR-71 flight was made by this aircraft on Saturday October 9, 1999, presently it is on static display at the Dryden Flight Research Center."
