"LAUNCH PREPARATIONS - Erect in its gantry at Cape Canaveral,
a 58 ft (17.68 m) Redstone launch vehicle is prepared for
flight. Later, Mercury spacecraft number 11, which is to be used in
NASA's second manned suborbital space flight, will be added. A host
of electrical and mechanical checks and mission simulations with the
pilot in the capsule, will be conducted prior to the flight, which is
planned for mid July." |
