Remarks by Carlo Soliani: "This photo is one of the official images released in 1969 to the press for the launch of the famous motion picture "The Battle of Britain", probably one of the best aeronautical movies ever appeared. Seemingly, the Spitfires depicted are Mk.IX (note the four-bladed propellers and the cooling system radiators under both wings) duly re-painted and slightly modified (note the Hispano wing cannons removed) in order torepresent in the motion picture the Mk.I and Mk.II that fought the Battle of Britain in 1940."
